Last week, the whole third grade team worked together to create an ARRAY city to display throughout our school. We have been studying multiplication in math. Students learned that they can use an array to represent a multiplication problem to organize their thinking. To practice arrays and truly see the repeated addition of equal groups, students were given a multiplication fact to create an array for the city. Our classroom was assigned the 2's and 6's family. After we created our arrays, we put them together into a "neighborhood". All of the neighborhoods were then combined after school to create the whole ARRAY CITY! You can check out this city on the walls outside the media center!
